In 2003, a group of us created an improvised video-noise performance that depicted the horrors of Jewish settler violence against Palestinian farmers in the Occupied West Bank. We called it Yannun Yannun, after the name of one of the villages that was featured on our tapes, Yannun, and as a tribute to the film Jenin, Jenin.
We performed Yannun Yannun live a few times and then released a CD (see here for the audio release). The core of this project later morphed into the local noise monster-group Lietterschpich.
Now, some 20 years later, we prepared a new video edit with English subtitles to be screened by our friends in Brighton, UK (Open Colour, a local film group devoted to independent, experimental and rarely screened cinema).
Yannun Yannun will be screened at The Cowley Club on Sat 25th Jan, with the band Plurals opening the evening (see poster below).
